Baby Williams First Playoff Game

We went to the Colts v. Jets Playoff game last night (thanks Papa Pat for the tickets). We went with our two friends Josh and Shilpa--who are also 18 weeks pregnant-- we had a great time even though the Colts lost.

All the walking, the noise and yelling really got a response from the baby, they were in there doing flips and somersaults the whole time. I have been feeling flutters for awhile now, but over the last few days I have been able to feel big heavy movements. The other morning I felt the Little Monster crawl over to my right side, my stomach got really hard where they were laying and really squishy on the side they just left. All the throwing up and feeling miserable suddenly became worth it. I managed to sneak another peek with the sonogram machine the other day at work, I got a perfect profile picture and saw them suck their little thumb. Its amazing how something so simple can bring tears to your eyes. However, even commercials about razor blades can bring tears to my eyes theses days! Regardless, it was the sweetest thing I have ever seen.

Updates

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and Happy New Year. I had to work New Year's Eve, but was able to watch the ball drop and call Matt at midnight. I thought I would be able to pull out the sonogram machine to have a New Year sneak peek at the little monster, but no such luck, I was too busy. I love to see the baby on the sonogram machine and I can almost make out the little face. Its one of the perks to being a nurse and it doesn't cost 300 bucks each time I do it.

The holidays were busy around here. We were traveling a lot trying to visit our families since I wont be able to make the full rounds next year. I have to work Christmas next year, sadly, which is a huge downside to being a nurse. It was nice to see everyone and we had a lot of great food. Fortunately, my sweet tooth is still on hiatus and I LOVE veggies right now, so this holiday season wasn't too detrimental on my healthy pregnancy diet. The doctor says I am "gaining weight nicely" and a nurse at work says that I am "looking very portly". Which ever way it is, I am just glad I don't get sick every day anymore. Another nurse said I "no longer look like a chemo patient or like I am dying" I love how honest my co-workers are!!!

We scheduled our big ultrasound for Feb 2 at 2pm, I am so excited to get a real good look at the baby and check out its heart, kidneys, spine etc... I see way too many things in the PICU that can go wrong in prenatal development and I am a stress case about it. Hopefully everything is perfect in there and the little monster is healthy.

Midair Expansion

16 weeks called for an up close and personal shot of the belly. I wish I would have appreciated my body and almost flat tummy before I got pregnant, because who knows when I will see it next. Matt and I traveled to FL to visit my mom this past weekend. It was a relaxing trip filled with TONS and TONS of good food. My mom is known as the Queen of Snacks, never ever say you're kinda hungry around her, she will make a 4 course meal. We also got to walk on the beach, which was a nice break from the snow. The food was great, but the flight home was horrible. We had an unexpected 3 hour delay in Atlanta, I expanded in midair and out grew my jeans, the cute knee high boots I was wearing no longer fit around my ever expanding calves and then we had to trudge through a foot of snow to get to an even more snow covered vehicle. I looked pretty cute walking through the airport exhausted, big bellied, with half zipped knee high boots, and jeans that were unbuttoned and unzipped. We were supposed to get home at 10pm, but rolled in at 2am--for a total of a 10hr travel day. Lesson of the trip: wear sweatpants and buy a direct flight.

Movin' On Up

Our Little Monster has moved up in the world. They ran out of room in their humble pelvis abode and got themselves a delux apartment in the sky. My belly sure did Pop this week and now all my old pants fit again. Thanks Little Monster for preserving my wardrobe just a little longer!

As evidenced by this Glamour Shot, color has returned to my face and I no longer look like death warmed over. I am feeling much better, I take only 1 Zofran a day and I have enough energy to take a shower. I actually started to work out again which has restored some self worth.

The last 15 weeks have been hard on everyone, Matt has had to take on all the household chores and wasn't allowed to cook anything while I was home because of the smells. He waited on me hand and foot and held back my hair when I was sick. Not once did he complain about a single thing, all he said was "I'm proud of you". He even had a small case of sympathy pregnancy, his legs would get restless and he would feel nauseous in the evening when he was home with me. If that's not love, I don't know what is!

Even The Boys have had it rough, there have been no table scraps to eat and Frazier is wasting way into nothing.

The Grass is Always Greener...

The Grass is Always Greener on the Other Side of the Street. Fortunately, we live on the greener, spring looking side of Mountain Hawk Dr. The other side of the street has their snow shovels out and are clearing their driveways.

Updates at 13 weeks pregnant

13 weeks pregnant and I throw up about that many times a day! I treated the Zofran like gold, but still ran out before it was time for a refill and I think I have built up a tolerance to the Sea-Bands. I had my monthly appointment this past week and fired my OB/GYN. The Doctor came in and asked how I was feeling. I said, with tears in my eyes, that I feel miserable and that I throw up 8-11 times a day, but feel severely nauseous the rest of the time. Know what that jerk said to me? He said "well, this is what you wanted isn't it? You do want to be pregnant don't you? Eat some crackers or a rice cake!" I lost it. I am an emotional, sick, tired mess at this point and I broke down crying. He didn't acknowledge me, just had me lay back so he could find the baby's heartbeat. Which, by the way, he only let me hear 2 small woosh wooshes. Then walked out, no goodbye no "do you have any questions?" WHICH I HAD A WHOLE LIST! I didn't even know the appointment was over until an RN came in to take me to the checkout. It lasted approximately 60 seconds from start to finish. Needless to say, I went home and called a highly recommended Doctor and got an appointment for next week. A nurse also spent 25 minutes on the phone with me answering all my questions and called in a prescription for Tigan (another nausea medicine I alternate with the Zofran). Now that is the prenatal experience I am looking for!

Here I am at 13 weeks, looking all large and in charge. Notice the pants I am wearing, these are still my normal jeans, however, I am afraid to wash and dry them for fear I will never fit into them again. Thanks Ma, for sending the leggings that I will be living in for the next 6 months.

Till Next Time,
Colie
